Without a Trace

I am conscious of the current environmental challenges, and my practice seeks to address the changes taking place across the natural world as a result of human interference.  I focus on materials that are organic, and possess a fragile, translucent quality that leave little trace or impact on the surrounding context.  Materials are mainly hand-sewn, temporary, with minimal intervention.

The delicate weightlessness of the sculptures I create take on a different form with each passing movement, their ephemeral qualities unravelling and falling apart over time.  The works act as a reminder that organic forms exist for a fleeting moment, and no matter how much we try to manipulate them they will eventually revert to their original form.  The colour scheme was specifically chosen to blend and dissipate into the exhibition space; a reminder of the gradual disappearance of nature.
