My Final semester work is based on my daily thoughts and routines during lockdown, which were the centre point of my work. My feelings and emotions during lockdown were the key to bringing the piece together into a concept. It is a document that almost reflects as a diary of my days, weeks and how I was coping studying and managing to be creative and inspired during lockdown at the time. A Self-driven personal documentary of work that will always be a reminder of this time in history, I wanted to produce a low key understated photographic response that was personal whilst finishing my Fashion Promotion degree.
The concept of “I’d rather be sleeping” is based on the importance of sleep and its essential part of our daily routine. Sleep is a tool for our body. It helps us to sharpen up, to fight infections and keep us functioning properly. Sleep is not an inconvenience it’s an investment to both our physical health and mental health. Sleep restores our body and it helps us to imprint what we have learnt throughout day.
The styling for my final semester projects was compromised due to COVID 19 which meant that proved limiting. The key was to create a narrative and to embrace my research findings translating them in to a still life piece as opposed to a fashion shoot.
