Fashion styling portfolio

A styling portfolio show casing my final year work.

Teen Vogue

This editorial was a live brief for Teen Vogue to create a conceptual shoot raising awareness in sexual wellbeing for teenage girls. I chose to use pastel shades to reflect embarrassment which I also mirrored and highlighted with the make up look.  Pyjamas were used to express vulnerability, shyness and covertly sexuality. Pink spray painted brogues for an awkward clumpy feel with red and black laces for a pop of sex. In some shots I covered the shoes with shoe protectors to give the message of safe sex and using protection. The location choice was and imperative. The photos were taking in my old senior school to enable me to revisit my teenage mind set and portray the feeling of teenage girls.  The locker room and toilet shots were taken as this is often where girls chat confidentially.

Ikea Land

An editorial based on a theme park called Ikea Land. The editorial captures the fun of a theme park through the facial expressions of the model, casual yet bold styling and the bright backgrounds.

Asylum

Psychology has always been an interest of mine. For the brief ‘Untitled’ Asylum was the choice of mine as I wanted to capture the haunting energy in am image. I decided that bedding was the appropriate item to use to create the six different looks. It demonstrated the neutrual colour tone patients wore. I customised the bedding and fit on my model in many different ways. I used rope and pillows to bulk out the different looks. I took images round my house which created an historical affect.  The clothing effect achieved with the textures and padding represented the padded rooms used in Asylums to calm people down. I collaged the imagery to layer the outfits and look to portray humility, suffocation and restraint. The negative white space in the collage was to represent emptiness, hollow and cold feelings associated with mental health.

The Marginalised World of Drag

I approached my FMP with an open mind knowing from the start I wanted to produce a film. I undertook lots of varied research but, my strong interest around Gender would not leave my mind. I decided I wanted to expand my knowledge on Drag culture. Due to the pandemic I was unable to create a fashion film. Instead I interpreted the styling from my planned film into still life. I feel that Drag Queens shape their legs to fit a feminine status so this is why I decided to style legs. The style of my film was going to be grainy and vintage. To my advantage I live in an old house with original 1970’s decor. I thought this would be a great location to capture the concept. I stylised the legs in tights, customising them to reflect my eight chosen styling boards. I also added, to my customisation, elements of Drag such as false lashes, gems and feathers to glamorise the legs.
