My practice brings together botanical materials and plaster casting techniques to explore aspects of sentimentality and nostalgia. I create plaster reliefs as a way to reflect upon the past, using natural material from the woodland areas surrounding the village where I spent my childhood. I am particularly interested in how an item can be trapped and suspended in time, without being subject to decay and the natural elements. These fossil-like reliefs create a void, forming an impression of something that no longer exists. My work is a metaphor for the past, loss of time, erasure of memory and the shifting landscape of place.
