Selected Illustrations from the 2019-20 academic year, best representing my style of practice.
The National Trust for Students is a brand refresh which shifts the focus towards the younger generation. The red squirrel is a focal point of my campaign as it is a native animal to the UK which the National Trust helps to protect from endangerment. I hoped to create a humorous juxtaposition by having young, almost delinquent figures representing a stereotypically traditional brand.

These Squirrel motifs were designed for use in conjunction with my National Trust for Students rebrand. They could be used in posters, printed as stickers or plastered on walls in urban areas to send a message that “the squirrels are fighting back”. Or maybe it’s more innocent than that!
This book cover design was my entry for the Penguin Student Design Awards – Non-fiction category. I wanted to be unconventional with this project; instead of designing a simplistic book cover, I opted for something more detailed. After all, this book is about Nearly Everything! The dinosaur being chased by the meteor is a central asset to the cover design as that specific event is one of the most well-known in history.
A potential book cover turned into a poster, A Short Scale of Nearly Everything* is an infographic which shows the size of various things. From the atom to the galaxies and everything in between!
*Individual objects are not to scale.
The Illustrated Guide to University is a small zine which introduces the reader to the various aspects of uni, such as Freshers, Finances and Societies. It features a lot of observational drawings of students in their natural environment, as well as supplementary text that elaborates on what you should expect.
This is a spread from The Illustrated Guide to University. It is an introduction to the Freshers’ Week section, a standalone illustration which shows what the campus may look like during this week. It’s bold and bright to give you the feel of a fresh start.
This is a spread from The Illustrated Guide to University. It is from the Accommodation section, introducing you to the idea of shared living. Generally, written sections are supplemented with illustrations to prevent them from being overwhelming or boring.
This is a spread from The Illustrated Guide to University. It is the introduction to the Societies chapter, and a rather busy drawing to represent the social and busy nature of being part of a society. There’s a lot going on and you wouldn’t want to miss out!
This poster was created to work alongside my Guide to University, however I feel that it was strong enough to work on its own. It essentially demonstrates the bustling nature of a student pub and uses cool colours to bring a chill mood into the composition.
